Urban Meyer thread 2.0...

I was saying that there is a reasonable chance that that exchange was not fabricated. And if so, it would render some of the complaints about her much less meaningful or even irrelevant. That was the primary point of the post. I made it clear that there were serious cautions associated with the possibility that the exchange was legit.

So you were saying exactly the same thing I was saying. I'm still not sure about what you're arguing. Or were arguing. Or whatever.

I made it quite clear that I had not come to any conclusion regarding the issue. I had not chosen to believe any of these things.
...
If you had read the post carefully, it would have been clear by multiple statements that I did not choose to believe any of those things. In fact, I plainly stated that we needed to wait before coming to any conclusions.

I guess I should have been clearer. The only statement in my post I was directing at you was the first one. The rest were royal yous.

No matter how this shakes out, I hope he has to answer for keeping him on staff from 2015-2018. We can't let that slide. I can't imagine a scenario in which I would have kept him on my staff, even after hearing all of the refuting comments about the abuse. The bottom line - it was the wrong move for Ohio State, and Meyer had a duty to protect Ohio State. He needs to be punished for that. I am hoping for a 6 game suspension, but doubt it will be that severe.

And that's fine.

My whole beef from the get-go has never been that Meyer is an innocent. And yeah, he lied, like almost anyone else would have done to the media.

My beef has been that most of this isn't "really" about domestic violence at all from the Brett McMurphy standpoint; this is his junior Watergate, I get to write books and make money destroying people. Again (and I shouldn't have to say this).....it's not that I give Meyer a pass, it's just so weird that the only way I could actually find out about the Smith case in the first place is because a reporter got it for Meyer.

This is gonna sound like a dumb question and like I'm exonerating Meyer, but I'm not: does he have full autonomy in whom he hires?

Because if he doesn't, how in the world does the school NOT say, 'Look, Urban, either you can him or we are'?

And if he does.....well, all the worse for him.

Again, I think just based on the severity that it should be a year, but whatever.

Well this just got very very weird...

Not sure how it's relevant besides making Zach Smith seem like a weirdo but there is a new report.

No, he does not. Like at Alabama, every hire has to be approved and every penny spent approved by the board. He can hire a person pending final approval by the board, but the board has to approve.

But, frankly, I don't hold the hire against him. As far as he knew the incident in FL was not what it was originally made out to be. Courtney herself told Urban that the police report was wrong. She now claims that it was right, but how could Urban have known that he was dealing with crazy people? So, I really believe that Meyer believed the incident at FL to have been an anomaly and that the young couple were doing great and had moved past the event. I believe in second chances, so I won't hold that against him. But as soon as the 2015 events hit his desk, the ride should have ended.

Once they said they knew how long the investigation was going to take before they even started, you knew how this was going to end.

So, Brett has officially become Courtney's press agent.

Or, OSU is still pretty arrogant and he's letting them know he's not ashamed to embarrass the University.

Maybe he wants SCUM's head on a platter and he'll stop.

Warning: this will affect your appetite................(at least it did mine)

"But you are going the post it anyway?"

You guys are going to hear about it somewhere. At least this comes with a warning.

Koffel: You know these were accessed illegally. Another felony
McMurphy: I don’t know how they were accessed. Can you answer my questions please
Koffel: You absolutely know or should know these were obtained without my client’s consent. If not, you do know.
Koffel: *now

Koffel: This is receiving stolen property.
Koffel: If any one of this is published or referenced we will refer to the county prosecutor. This is a felony ORC 2913.04
Koffel: Also you are under RC 2913.05

Maybe it is time to shoot the messenger! Anonymous sources is one thing, but this may cross the line, depending on the details how he became privy to it.

Time to get more popcorn..........

I am not embarrassed at all by that garbage. Not sure why anyone at OSU would be. :conf3:

But you are right - this is personal for Brett. He wants blood.

The slight difference is not worth trying to hash out . The irony is that I was giving you a "like" with only a slight modification which led me to an expansion on what the ramifications were if true. All of this obscuring the fact that I was essentially agreeing with your post.

But anyway - no problem.

I mean who hasn’t taken a pic of their junk at the White House???

Yep, like during my visit when LBJ was in the White House. I can still remember it like it was yesterday, even though I was dropping a lot of acid at the time. But I digress.....

And next week on “The Real Coaches of Columbus”.......
