Border thread part II

The Biden Administration exploited the CBP One App to allow more than 1 million aliens to illegally enter the United States. With the launching of the CBP Home App, we are restoring integrity to our immigration system. The CBP Home app gives aliens the option to leave now and self deport, so they may still have the opportunity to return legally in the future and live the American dream. If they don’t, we will find them, we will deport them, and they will never return.

I'm not really sure how this is an answer to anything. Like the failed war on drugs we are obsessed with the supply issue and completely ignore the demand side. I have a hard time taking anyone seriously who says this is a problem who doesn't say we need to increase the penatlies on the companies employing these people.

Want to fix the issue? Implement a system similar to h1b where industries like agriculture and construction can do everything above the table. Then implement steep penalties on the employers still employing people who entered illegally post implementation of those 2 items.

I'm neither for nor against this as I don't really have much data.

But I think it will help with some of the overhead of removal of illegals - some will self-deport in order to have the option to potentially come back at in the future.

And why did Biden allow it? For what purpose?

This is why the Biden administration was the perfect con. He had no idea what was going on and his status as the pitiable old man offered him some protection. Now with people taking a harder look at the last 4 years, the right questions are being asked. The media won't touch them, of course...at least not until the public has them dead to rights for their part in covering for Biden. Cracks in the foundation are already starting to show.

The idea that Biden was incompetent for his entire presidency (or even the last few months of it) is a claim that requires solid evidence. Is it surprising that an 80-year-old man (especially under the stress of the presidency) would have mental lapses (such as the incident with Johnson or the debate with Trump)? Not at all. Does it prove he was incapable of serving for his entire presidency? Only to those who have a desire to make that claim. While I have no doubt that Biden's age-related issues were minimized (i.e. covered up) by his wife and others), it doesn't mean that he was not competent to serve. If evidence exists of his incompetence, I'd like to see it.

Here's a rational view from a conservative site:

Somehow I think there's a lot more to this story that we don't know yet, and that the arrest was way out of bounds.
Possibly.

She reportedly escorted the illegal out the jury door to bypass ICE officials sent to arrest him (they caught him on foot a few minutes later after a short pursuit).

If true, she's cooked.

Where was the Supreme Court when Barack Obama deported 5.3 Million?

ok red hat wearers, which is it?

Did Obama let millions of illegals in this country to run wild or did he deport a bunch?

And if you can show me he made the same blunder Corporal Bone Spurs made, we then have a legitimate comparison. Even illegals are entitled to due process.

From the linked article:

County court records show the undocumented immigrant in the Milwaukee case -- Eduardo Flores-Ruiz -- was set to appear in court on April 18 before Dugan for a pretrial conference in a case where he has been charged with three misdemeanor counts of battery/domestic abuse connected to an incident on March 12.

Flores-Ruiz beat his roommate and a woman so badly that they needed to be hospitalized

I'm not an attorney not am I even the list bit sympathetic with an illegal who has previously been deported, came back, and likely committed yet another crime.

But a minimally competent lawyer is going to have a field day with the sworn testimony of the agent and the speculative nonsense contained in the criminal filing, which you can read without Ann Jacobs' spin below:

Dugan Complaint Package.pdf

"I have probable cause" on the basis of some mindless speculation and imputation of motives isn't likely to hold much water. When this first broke yesterday, I wondered what the truth was simply because the reactions were so predictable: Democrats with "he's arresting judges" without any hesitation or considering whether the charge MIGHT be true (e.g. tribalism), Republicans going with the old "no one is above the law", a truly hilarious and hypocritical response from the only political party to ever nominate and support a 34-time convicted felon (apparently SOME are above the law).

Never believe initial reports is one thing I'd say to anyone wanting to know the truth about something.

I'm not even sure how to answer what appears to be a the semantics of categories, over whether Biden was "incompetent" (wow, is that a word with a wide semantic range) or "didn't know what was going on" (which can be "incompetent" or something else).

As I've stated previously, Biden's mental acuity has to be viewed through his personal health history that includes two aneurysms during the 1988 campaign and a lifelong struggle with stuttering - and yes, he's been prone to gaffes like Gerald Ford was. But now having said that....

While I have no doubt that Biden's age-related issues were minimized (i.e. covered up) by his wife and others), it doesn't mean that he was not competent to serve. If evidence exists of his incompetence, I'd like to see it.

There was an attack on Biden's age in 2019 by Eric Swalwell during the campaign. I'm willing to write this one off as campaign politics, and the fact Biden threw it back at him quickly suggests Biden wasn't nearly as old as Swalwell wanted to insinuate.

Allen and Parnes report that in September 2021, he rambled about his days during the Senate in front of a group of Democrats he was trying to persuade to support items on his agenda. This, too, can go either way, maybe a guy who missed the "good ole days" and the split was about even whether he was showing signs of age or just reminiscing - among the Dems who were there.

The moment that probably put Biden's mental acuity close to the front burner came in September 2022, when Biden asked if Rep. Walorski - who had been killed in a car wreck the previous month - was present at a food insecurity conference. What made this a story - and you can blame this on people who refuse to admit fluff ups - is his Press Secretary got all defensive and huffy and instead of admitting Biden "made a mistake because he had the Congresswoman in the forefront of his mind," Jean-Pierre acted EXACTLY LIKE A TRUMP Press Secretary would act, and called the reporter "rude" for, well, bringing up the obvious.

I don't think Biden was a vegetable (or whatever) for four years. I think it's entirely possible that sometime during 2023 or 2024 he may have suffered a stroke - and yes, folks, the Biden White House told lies just like (wait for it) both sides always do. Remember - this is an administration that covered up the hospitalization of their own SECDEF, so you can't say they wouldn't do it for Biden.

Thing is, if Biden would have sledgehammered Trump in the June 2024 debate, everything else might have been true but wouldn't have mattered. That moment was Gerald Ford prematurely liberating Poland, Dan Quayle not being a friend of Jack Kennedy, and Mike Dukakis serving as an apologist for a man who killed his wife all rolled into one.
