I'll have to check on this but I think javy was unrated when we offered him.

He was so off radar compared to where he ended up that it was ridiculous.
A lot of people including me were scratching their heads over us offering him. I went and looked at his highlights and could see why.

Wasn't Mark Ingram a 3 star as well?
I think rivals had Ingram as a 4 star but scout and others had him as a 3 star.
What I remember most that signing day was listening to Jim Dunnaway on WJOX in B’ham talking about Ingram. He made the statement “this Ingram kid is one to watch in this class. The staff thinks he can be special. They believe he is very underrated and can contribute very early”.

Boy were they ever right.

I was coaching college and was driving the QB for Cody's JUCO team around on a recruiting visit. I asked him about TC and his eyes got big and he said, "Dat boi fassst!". I knew right then and there he was going to be a problem!

And all starter's in the NFL
The best 3 star ever signed by Bama is DeMeco Ryans. He was ranked #771 in the 2003 class as a 212 pound inside linebacker. 2005 SEC defensive player of the year and All-American that holds the record for most tackles in a game with 25. 2 pro bowls in the NFL and was the defensive rookie of the year.

The first time I saw DeMeco’s mom (Martha) interviewed, I knew the he had “the right stuff”. His momma didn’t play games. She set the tone for him.

Martha didn’t raise a football player. She raised a young MAN that happened to play football.

My biggest concern is that over the last 3 classes, we haven't landed any of the really top end ILB talent, and it appears that our new defensive approach requires that just as much or more than what we used to have, with perhaps even more premium on being able to flow quickly to fill assigned gaps and win those battles.

in 23 we got no one in the top 50 (considering Qua an Edge), 24 Dixon was highest at 17 and this year Johnson is the highest at 12.

Just seems like the position would have a pretty high priority especially with likely losing the top 3 from this season.

I saw that. I was shocked. Texas is going to be more nasty.
I actually think Terry along with all the DL Georgia has stack the last several classes would be more lethal so I'm happy he went to Texas or any other school for that matter aside from the dawgs. They need to be humble and having one of their best leave the state is even better!!
