We lost Tebow and went 39-15 with 1 SECC and 1 NC without him.
UF landed Tebow and went 48-7 with 2 SECC and 2 NC with him.
Would we have had the same success if he had come here? Who knows. I doubt it because we wouldn't have had someone like Saban at the helm, and Tebow wouldn't have been in the offense that helped make him a star. I'm glad Tebow ended up at UF because of where we are at now.
You're trying to prove your point about one player not making such a big difference, but you try to do that by bringing up arguably one of the best players to ever play the game. It's just an odd piece of evidence that doesn't really help your case.
In actuality, I agree with you wholeheartedly about how we will fare if we lose someone like Allen. KA plays a position that isn't really considered a difference maker on the field in terms of the big picture. WR's are rarely considered to be the key to moving the chains on offense. We'll be fine with or without him.
If we were discussing losing a 5-star QB, or a stud RB, I'd be a little more concerned. But the WR position is one of the least productive positions in our offense.
I understand you're point, and sure we can win without someone like Tebow, we just did. But look at the difference he made at the school he ended up going to. That's why it's odd that you'd bring him up.You missed the point - what you stated is exactly why I used Tebow as an example.
Tebow is arguably the biggest single player difference maker in college football history.
Even with Alabama missing out on Tebow, Alabama still finished 2 regular seasons unbeaten, won a division crown, won a SEC championship and a BCS national championship - and we were a program that was total disarray just 3 years ago. We even beat Tebow's team to do it.
If we can do all of that even while missing out on someone who truly lived up to his "superman" hype, then we'll be just fine losing any one single recruit.
