All I've ever seen are those chilled huge AC units they place behind the teams' benches...I wonder if they do any core cooling at halftime for football teams. Not enough time for ice baths.

It seems like we’ve started every season for the last 9 years with bad OL play. For most of those years things got a lot better as the season progressed, including a couple of Joe Moore Awards.I am worried about the Oline On offense. Which means I’m worried about the running game! Which means I’m worried about the offense
Maybe spotty, but I have not seen Alabama dominated on both sides of the LOS for 3 quarters in a game in a long time. What happened yesterday was very unusual for a Saban team. But I won't worry about it unless it becomes a real trend. It seems like we’ve started every season for the last 9 years with bad OL play. Good logic. We certainly have the talent. Maybe this team learned their lesson. I'm expecting an air raid against us when Ole Miss visits, but that game will answer a lot of questions.Okay, after some time away from the game to think about it, I'm less concerned about the team.
What we saw in the first quarter is what we've seen many times under Saban - total dominance of the opposition due to Bama's superior talent and coaching. What we saw in subsequent quarters was a dogfight because the Tide let its guard down and lost intensity. Once you lose intensity (within a game) it's nearly impossible to regain it - we've seen this many times under Saban.
CNS's truly great teams either kept the intensity level high until the game was 'over' (either the score is insurmountable later in the game or time expires) or they found a way to hold on when the intensity was lost due to seemingly overwhelming leads. The former was what we generally saw in 2020, the latter was what we saw yesterday.
Generally speaking, Saban's great teams that claw out a win like we saw yesterday learn from it and begin keeping the pedal down until the game is over. I'm hoping that this team is a great one - they have all the parts to be great - and will become more like the 2020 squad.
Time will tell, but I remain hopeful and excited.
ROLL TIDE!
Well, the “shaking” Saban predicted happened....... tomorrow they get reminded of that fact and what can happen down the road........ I expect that message to sink in pretty hardMaybe spotty, but I have not seen Alabama dominated on both sides of the LOS for 3 quarters in a game in a long time. Agreed - and yet Bama still beat the #11 team in the country - on their own turf.Maybe spotty, but I have not seen Alabama dominated on both sides of the LOS for 3 quarters in a game in a long time.
Yep, you dominated the 1st quarter, and played well enough in the 4th to put it away. Few teams could have pulled that off.Agreed - and yet Bama still beat the #11 team in the country - on their own turf.
I think after watching Clemson barely hang on vs Tech, we have to remember, we are the hunted. The circle on the calendar. As is tOSU and OU and a few chosen others.Maybe spotty, but I have not seen Alabama dominated on both sides of the LOS for 3 quarters in a game in a long time. Yep, and maintained the stranglehold on #1 in all polls! I made the statement halfway through this thread. First world(cfb), Alabama problems!Agreed - and yet Bama still beat the #11 team in the country - on their own turf.
Much to the chagrin of UGA fans................it is their year, after allYep, and maintained the stranglehold on #1 in all polls! I made the statement halfway through this thread. First world(cfb), Alabama problems!
Saban is a great recruiter, game day tactician and teacher. His teams usally get better and improve as the season progresses. Our guys are in good hands.Much to the chagrin of UGA fans................it is their year, after all![]()
they get to spend all year talking about the manning kid as the next herschel walkerMuch to the chagrin of UGA fans................it is their year, after all![]()
Nice observation.Jalyn Armour-Davis should be the defensive POTW. Yes, he got beat in single coverage 2 or 3 times, but that’s just life as a corner in the modern game. Obviously, the stop on the 2 point try was the difference in the outcome, but don’t forget his interception and the PBU on 3rd and goal. The pick led to a TD, and the PBU kept 3 or 4 points off Florida‘s end of the scoreboard. So that’s up to 11 points in our favor made possible by those 2 crucial plays!
Excellent data to put the weather in perspective. Also, I am not sure if you work out outside during the summer, but there is only so much that you can do to prepare for the physical aspects of heat + humidity, even if you train in it every day. At some point you reach your body's peak ability to cope with the heat + humidity. Working harder then becomes counter-productive.
Your body cannot dump heat fast enough once the temp + dew point reach 120 combined. They were over 150 during the game - especially early in the game. That is crazy hard for your body to manage. At some point it becomes physically impossible and you just get weaker and weaker as your body starts shutting down muscle fiber to save your life.
I was wondering the same thing. I expected to see Trey on the field more this week.Any reason that Trey Sanders didn’t play? I felt his play in the first 2 games earned him a spot in the rotation. We have used a 3 back rotation in years past.
All the convincing I needed was embodied by a serene Saban (Saban the Serenian?) postgame - Golding as bamboozled as when he was in the lead role in "Close Encounters of The Third Kind" barely registers.Guess it's harder than we thought to replace several first-round picks and the winners of almost every major individual and collective in CF last season. I understand why we're all uneasy, but I think the players and coaches are more likely to learn and improve from yesterday's close call than they are to implode. Every season has a life of its own, and games like this aren't unusual. I'm just glad we held on for the win - Ohio State and Clemson can't say that.
