Anyway, here’s the answer to the OP question:
If you had shown me this before the season started, I would have said “Our WR situation is far worse than we feared.†Turns out, the WRs have been fine. The issue is our QB is a dumpster fire, but no one wants to admit it.

I think people also know Coach Saban’s history when in comes to QB’s. When he finally “lands†on someone, he usually sticks with them through thick and thin. That goes all the way back to his LSU days.
I fully expect Milroe, barring injury, to be the starter from this point forward. And regardless of what any fan or talking head thinks, he believes JM gives us the best chance to win. I don’t think even Coach Saban thinks Jalen will ever be a great quarterback. As you said he probably believes he’s “the best he’s gotâ€Â.

No doubt. They went a little to "prevent'ish" on the last 2 Clemson scoring drives to be successful, but they were gassed. Sark did a lousy job managing Jalen in that game. Too many incomplete third down passes or runs out of bounds on third down, which stopped the clock and gave Clemson more plays.
Well here is the problem. There are two huge crowds. One in which overplays bad plays and one that overplays good ones. I mean we seriously had a “Milroe compared to Vince Young†thread after the MTSU game…
Milroe is more closer to a functional quarterback that can win some games with his talen rather than one that should be keeping defensive coordinators up all night around the country. I just can’t get past the fact that we struggled putting up 24 points at home vs Pete Golding’s worst defense, but everyone wants to throw qbr and completion rate vs a less impressive msu defense.
Idk… I think we are going to see our ceiling with Milroe this Saturday. Whether that is a NC or major bowl we will have a far better idea by 6 pm Saturday. Hope it’s the former.

Maybe I've blocked this game from my memory, but I remember much discussion about this and it makes perfect sense.
Wasn't this the game they picked Tua off a time or two and all the plays that seemed to get our receivers open in space suddenly were shut down to nothing.
It was either the greatest scouting and coaching job in history OR they knew exactly what we were doing before we did it!

The bigger concern is if we lose another game or two and don't make it to the CFP again this year will be the narrative that the program is post-peak. Couple that with NIL issues and it's going to be harder to sign the best of the best even if we still have the best recruiter in the history of college football.
As it stands now, our current QB recruit probably didn't commit thinking he'd likely be playing as a true freshman but he may be thinking that now.
We may have also entered that time frame as happened with Coach Bryant of, "Hey, he's not gonna be there in 3 years, so come to our school." In Bryant's case, there was a state law (at the time anyway) that he couldn't work for the school past age 70 (or some sorta detail the lawyers will know better than I). So starting at age 66 (which would have been after - wait for it - the 1979 season), coaches could go say to four-year college players, "You know, Bryant won't be there when you graduate, he's gonna have to retire."
Pat Dye never made any secret of the fact he and his recruiters did that, and so would any prospective on the move coach. It's kill or be killed.
He absolutely has to carry some of the blame as he made the decision to retain him for 5 suboptimal years. But, he’s the GOAT and earned the right to make a few bad decisions.
I think the former is only true because of the lack of experience from Ty/Dylan. Get a few games under their belt, and you won't be able to say that anymore. That's why it's so frustrating that the QB battle seemed to be stacked heavily in Milroe's favor
Clemson hasn't been the same since that became a known thing.
Simpson will go to UT and Heupel will make him a Heisman contender.
