Bama Coordinator Search Thread

"Christian" has nothing - nothing! - to do with a business decision. Or with protecting oneself from potential harm with someone has a reputation (and a deserved one at that) for bringing or allowing such harm. And "Christian" should not be used as an excuse to simply "enable" someone to do new wrongs or protect them from the consequences of their past wrongs (not accusing you of saying this, to be clear). Exactly how and where that applies to Freeze or anyone else depends on the particulars. I have my own thoughts on Freeze, even though I understand I have formed my opinions on limited information.

But the bottom line here is risk tolerance when it comes to hiring Freeze assuming the other boxes are checked (like does he fit in?). Qualifications are not an issue at all. Risk tolerance does matter. What is the risk? Is the organization willing to tolerate the risk?

Curious, what kind of addiction did Kiffin have? I know all about Sark and his alcohol, but I have never heard Kiffin and addition used in the same sentence.

Probably be argued he has the same addiction Tiger Woods has, if you believe that can be an addiction.

Les Miles. Power I. 2 TEs. Fake field goals. Snacking on some grass during warm-ups. All that.

I don't either, but a man has to eat somehow.

He'll be employed somewhere in college this year. It is really a question of at what tier (power five or group of five) and role. We're probably the only team in the SEC that can realistically make the move.

Well, then couldn't the same be said for Freeze? Not everyone with that addiction can have the game it takes to feed the addiction. So, he fed it another way.

So, is it really just down to Freeze and Locksley at this point? Or is there still a shot at another hire?

I know its been discussed, but this thread is getting pretty large and I can't find many recent updates on it.

So, just to be a smart butt... how do we rank sins?

Sark: official alcoholic. Relapsed after he was an analyst here.
Kiffin: loves the coeds, likes to drink, disappeared until 3am the morning we played Washington and called plays that didn't exist.
Freeze: various crimes involving recruiting, lying, called escorts.

But, we don't like Locksley who is like a dad to many players and lost his son via murder this past year.

The problem is we're trying to rank competence and then figure out if the sins exclude someone from consideration. If this was all about just being a good guy, I think we know who would be at the top of the list.

I don't have any issues with Locksley. He seems like a really good coach, and if what is being said about how he handled the the internal issues the team was facing, then he deserves all the credit in the world for holding the team together.

It just sounds like those in the know weren't impressed by his stints as a playcaller at other schools.

Curious, eh? Seems like when the rubber meets the road people want to go with a man that has a checkered past yet has results over a well-loved coach who doesn't have results.

Thank you. That was what I was trying to drive at with my earlier post.

We aren't hiring a preacher, but character does matter and people need second chances.

I hate the misfortune that came on Coach Locksley and think personal shortcomings were real with Kiffen, Sark and Freeze, but to me what it comes down to is:

1. Competence to do the job (my concern with Locksley)
2. CNS willingness to give someone a second chance and trust they are serious about changing their ways.

And your 1 is really what it should come down to. And we have no idea how he's changed since he was an OC.

It is sanctimonious and judgmental. How many here personally know Freeze and what is in his heart? Zero. However, Coach Saban does know him personally and is friends with him. So I guess you better discuss character with him. smh

You're right. We don't know what is in his heart but we do know about the hookers and phones and such which is generally kind of indicative of what's in one's heart (not 100% of the time). We do know what was allowed to go on under his watch. It's public record.

Now, I don't know if CNS will hire him or not. I don't know if the SEC will allow it or not. I don't make those decisions. I can feel fairly confident that you and others who are all of a sudden ok with what it is known that he has done were hanging on every word waiting to see what was coming next and hoping he and Ole Miss would get hammered. It's kind of like disparaging harlots and then hiring one to be the nanny of your children.........(maybe not a great comparison but you get the point......at least I hope you can understand).
