Border thread part II

Politics and political answers, but...

why do republicans keep running away from answering the question she asked and pretending they didn't do it?

ETA: And since when does the VP make immigration law and policies?

Answer: She didn't.
What did she do then? Did she make any recommendations? Did she release a report with recommendations of how to address root causes? Did she suggest legislative action? Here’s an article from that far right outlet the BBC outlining what she was supposed to be doing. So what did she actually do? Biden gave her responsibility for the issue. How did she address it. Just take the L on this one.

These are good questions.

Illegal crossings at U.S.-Mexico border fall to 3-year low, the lowest level under Biden

Illegal crossings along the U.S. southern border fell to a 3-year low in June following President Biden's drastic move to curtail asylum and continued efforts by Mexico to stop migrants heading north, according to preliminary Customs and Border Protection data obtained by CBS News.

Border Patrol processed approximately 84,000 migrants who crossed the U.S.-Mexico border without authorization in June, the lowest monthly level since Mr. Biden took office in January 2021, when the agency reported just over 75,000 migrant apprehensions, the internal statistics show.

June's migrant apprehension tally was also the fourth consecutive monthly drop, continuing an unexpected downward trend in illegal border crossings that started in the early spring. Border Patrol agents recorded 118,000 migrant apprehensions in May; 129,000 in April; 137,000 in March; and 141,000 in February, according to public government figures.

Migrant crossings dropped across border regions, including in remote and rugged stretches of Arizona and California that had become the busiest sectors for illegal entries.

So after three years and the weight of his terrible policies on his and Kamala’s election bids he did something. Why did he wait 3 and half years if he could have done this earlier. He only did something because of the politics of it. Take the L.

Lol, take the L. How old are you? Can you not support your argument without cheering yourself on? Tiresome.

A little fun isn’t allowed?

You can’t refute my argument on this one with or without cheering yourself on.

Of course she gave thoughts and recommendations. All have been tried and then abandoned by the next administration over the last 25 years or so. There have been miserable failures on all sides. Then of course she began to solve global warming and equally simple problem to solve without any consensus.

What were they? Did she release a report or recommend some specific legislative action. If she released a report I’d like to read it. It would give insight into her thoughts on a very serious subject.

That's like a fire department bragging about saving the chimney after the house burn down. Biden also drew off the gas reserves to lower gas prices so he could look better with the election coming up. At a dangerous time in the world events when it could be needed. Old political tricks to fool the stupid and blinded.

Worked for GWB and plenty of others, yet they get credit for the lower prices during their terms. Looks like a smart political move. I do wonder, based on the amount released and the amount remaining, if there is any real "danger" from doing so or if that is just a pretense to complain. I don't have the numbers or their implications on me so it's a genuine curiosity. What does it translate to in terms of not only change in price of oil but also in terms of military readiness and how quickly could it be replaced by domestic production in case of a national emergency. Would it really make a difference?

But again, heads I win, tails you lose. Don't like that? Tails I win, heads you lose.

If nothing is done on the border then shame and blame for that.

If something is done on the border, shame and blame for that.

That's the game instead of an adult discussion on the pros and cons of the implemented policy or why it was necessary in the first place (republicans blocking bipartisan legislation that would have enshrined into law many of the border policies they wanted).
