Bama Game Thread: Official Postgame Thread - Bama vs. Michigan...

This inconsistent play happened all year. A team cannot sustain that style of play and not expect it to come back and bite them at some point. It bit us against Texas then again tonight. Championships teams don't have that pattern of play.
Yep, there wasn't a game when we didn't have the offensive lulls. Maybe UK is the exception? I didn't get to watch it closely. But it's why we only beat UGA by 3, why LSU stayed in it so long in the first half, why we almost lost to AU

Last thing I'm going to say. It's ridiculous that we didn't have someone who could snap the ball. Embarrassing even.
I think my advice to those playing center at Alabama is, over the next seven months, tie up a tire swing in your back yard and snap 100 balls through the tire every day. I'll send a Grad Assistant to fetch the balls for you.

That’s a muscle memory situation with the number of times you should be snapping the ball during practice. At least it should be.

I'm disappointed Bama was confused on both sides of the ball after a month to prepare. I've never seen that during Saban's era. They were punched in the mouth at the LOS too. Michigan scored in OT after two consecutive run plays. Bama didn't make them earn it at the end. This team still overachieved after advancing pass the chaos of the beginning of the season.

I can’t emphasize what @B1GTide is saying here enough. If Milroe is going to take that next step to reach his potential, then 1) he has to get past this “I’m comfortable with the deep ball” mentality. Learn to use the entire field and the entire playbook. 2) he MUST become a true zone read QB. Every “read” call is predetermined for him.
He can't... As much as we don't like Bob, he is a pretty good judge of talent proven by his career accolades. He's not wrong about Jalen. He's like a very poor man's Jalen Hurts or Tim Tebow. He is blind to the field, has average arm strength (at best), above average speed and strength, and dare I say average heart. He let up on some early runs that I can never unsee. Having said this...I'd love nothing more than the kid to prove me wrong.

Just like in 2014, we had a month to prepare and we lost to a just ok B1G team. At least this loss wasn't to a 3rd string QB, but it still stings. Nahh... actually it stings worse than the loss to tOSU in 2014

When we started running #22 Haynes for 8-10 yards a clip, I said we have this in the bag. He is my guy; our best runner by far. I cannot fathom why we got away from that.
Yeah that confused me too... Dude came out of nowhere and slayed the defense and then we just stopped using him. Did he get hurt? I've always heard to stick with the hot hand so really can't fathom while we decided to fold from the hot hand...

Someone compared this game to 2014. Well it definitely was. We stopped running a back that the other team could not stop.

I hate to say it, but against the Barn, when Milroe scrambled, he was within a yard of the first down and went into a fetal position, rather than deliver a lick to the Barn safety who was coming over to tackle him. The guy I was watching with said, "That reminds me of Cam Newton in the Super Bowl. That guy is afraid to get hit."

That fumble was key play of the game imo.
The three 5-yard Drive killing penalties didn't help either. One on Booker one on the center and one illegal substitution. I think we gained over 10 yards on each one of the drives but because of the five-yard penalty drives were either killed or we had to settle for three. Little mistakes like that end up being huge in the end.
