Border thread part II

Not propaganda, but the absolute truth. Trump blocked efforts to deal with the situation you posted.
-snip-

So you're saying Biden didn't have the authority to do something himself?

President Biden believes we must secure our border. That is why today, he announced executive actions to bar migrants who cross our Southern border unlawfully from receiving asylum. These actions will be in effect when high levels of encounters at the Southern Border exceed our ability to deliver timely consequences, as is the case today. They will make it easier for immigration officers to remove those without a lawful basis to remain and reduce the burden on our Border Patrol agents.

Blame the "other guy".....after a while it gets new.......and is why you lost the election.

Biden expanded it to include all Western Hemisphere nationals (except for Mexicans) and humanely allowed those who could prove that there was a “reasonable possibility” of persecution or torture in Mexico to be exempted from the program (they could also contact a lawyer).
Also mandated that they be asked if they feared for their lives if the went back, after they spoke with their lawyer.

Gee, I wonder how many answered 'no'...

And there's no way Mexico would agree to it again.
I hate to break it to you, but Mexico has no choice. If we don't let them in, they're going back.

Probably the truest words spoken on TF today, though not quite intended that way.

I swear I remember reading that Kacsmaryk said the policy could only be reinstated with Mexico's approval, but I can't find it. I'll keep looking, but concede the point for now. Of course, there are other ways Trump could limit immigration from Mexico.

Found it. Ninth paragraph down.

U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, a Trump appointee, ordered the Biden administration in August to restart the MPP, faulting the White House for ending it without fully considering the consequences, while acknowledging it could return only with Mexico’s consent.

The killing added fuel to the national debate over immigration when federal authorities said Ibarra illegally entered the U.S. in 2022 and was allowed to stay in the country while he pursued his immigration case.

He can do things through executive orders, but the nextpresident can easily reverse things the same way; that's why the bipartisan bill was so important.

Whereas Trump is renowned for owning up to his mistakes...

That's too good for him. He needs a little Old Testament eye for an eye justice.
Probably one of the most misunderstood scriptures in the bible. Before that, punishments were draconian, compared to the offense. From the Code of Hammurabi, roughly translated, "If a couple be found in adultery, they shall be bound together and thrown into the sacred river." Or, in Islam, the standard punishment for thievery was cutting off of the hand. The bible posited a far milder retribution...

I’m understanding it perfectly. I get what you are saying that other early law codes were harsher, but I want this dude to die just like Laken Riley did. Not more not less.

President-elect Donald Trump intends to follow through on his plan to impose sweeping tariffs on America’s top trading partners — a move that could come at a high cost to U.S. consumers. On Monday, Trump promised a new tariff on all products entering the U.S. from Mexico and Canada until the countries crack down on the flow of drugs and “illegal aliens,” he said in a Truth Social post.

(The Center Square) – The federal government has the authority to deport foreign nationals in the U.S. illegally over the objection of local authorities, a panel of three judges on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously ruled.
